Kasey Fleisher Hickey: Storyteller, recipe developer, photographer
After graduating from the University of California, San Diego, I began my career working with smart and innovative tech, social marketing, and food startups, helping them shape and communicate their message to both traditional and new media. As the PR/Marketing Manager at social marketing startup Context Optional, I helped the company establish a voice and distinguish itself in a crowded market. The company was acquired by Adobe. I then spent three years at Evernote, where I spearheaded the creation of lifestyle-oriented content, established the company's first style guide, and ran the Ambassador Program. I was responsible for the vision and launch of the program, which became a global initiative and foundation of Evernote's community efforts. I launched my freelance career by introducing Shyp to the San Francisco market via placements in The New York Times, Fast Company, TechCrunch, and more. I was responsible for shaping the young company's messaging and go-to-market launch strategy. While I was happy freelancing, I took the opportunity to join Asana to establish an editorial destination for lessons, ideas, and stories from great teams and leaders called "Workstyle." I now selectively work with companies looking to develop and hone their content and editorial strategy, establish a brand voice and story, and build an engaged community around their products and services.
In addition to my agency and startup experience, I am also the co-founder and publisher of Turntable Kitchen, a food and music site and complementary subscription service (The Turntable Kitchen Pairings Box) that I run with my husband. Turntable Kitchen and the Turntable Kitchen Pairings Box have been talked about in The New York Times, Real Simple, O, The Oprah Magazine, Saveur, Town & Country Weddings, Refinery29, Food52, Mashable, and other prominent blogs and publications.
My writing, recipes, and photography have been featured in: Anthology Magazine, UPPERCASE, Gather Journal, Whole Living (a Martha Stewart publication) and SELF Magazine, and my travel writing has been recognized by AFAR.
A recent transplant from San Francisco to Seattle, I always welcome the opportunity to meet and work with creative individuals, publications, and brands. I'd love to hear about your project or potential story!
I have spoken at several conferences, including TECHmunch NYC, ALT SF, and Digital DUMBO - dd:IMPACT Conference, on the topics of food & technology, blogging, and new media. If you would like to invite me to speak at your upcoming event, please get in touch.
